Vlodek Tydor was born in Germany, raised and educated in Poland. Although he
graduated from Technical College of Mechanical Engineering, he
opted for the pursuit of artistic interests rather than
continuing in the field of his study.
His enthusiasm, talent and skill lead him to the association with the
regional architectural company
in Zielona Gora, Poland where his contribution extended into
designing and building urban projects on miniature scale,
drafting maps and drawing up blue prints for the urban
development department. Soon his attention took a turn
into experimentation with the artistic photography and short
documental films.
For several years he had the opportunity to travel extensively across
Canada, US and Europe in seeking out new and exhilarating
artists' and their unique work for his gallery. During his
visits to artist’s studios, especially the ones with
ceramic medium, he felt compelled to "sink his hands into
the mud" and test his abilities once again. After two short
courses in hand building and wheel throwing he came up with a
design for a line of contemporary clay animal figurines, which
become his passion and a way of life overtaking everything-else.
Presently he is working full time as ceramist from his studio, shared with
his wife and partner, artist herself, in Ontario.
