Faith
began
painting 18 years ago after attending a water-color class. She
began experimenting with fabric paint shortly after, and now works
with both media. The subjects of Faith's paintings derive from her
environment. She paints flowers, animals and mountain landscapes.
The pictures express the power of the subjects she selects, the
strength of the bear, the fierceness of the wolf, and the
massiveness of the mountains.
Her paintings have been sold through galleries in Edmonton,
Calgary, Canmore and Banff. Individuals and corporations in North
America, Australia, Europe and Africa have purchased her works.
For the past 10 years Faith has been donating all of her profits
to projects in Nepal.
In 2000, she and her husband trekked into a remote village taking
lights for a school and 55 homes. Children there are now able to
read books in the evening. Savings from the high cost of kerosene
enabled villagers to initiate income-generating schemes: pig,
chicken and vegetable farming. Faith hopes to be able to fund the
same highly efficient lighting system for at least one village
every year.
She lives in Canmore with her husband and, having retired as
physiotherapist, spends her time painting, volunteering with
aboriginal children, and hiking. From her time exploring the
mountains she draws the inspiration for her paintings.
About Her Paintings
To achieve the colourful, yet transparent look the artist has
chosen a heavy, untreated canvas combined with a special water
based fabric paint.
The work is heat set on completion and the colours will not fade
or change. When used on garments the paint is machine washable!
The painting is treated with a protectant to resist soiling.
Simply wipe with a cloth or soft brush if necessary.
The
paintings are designed to be hung unframed. |
