Claude Tremblay
Born in Chicoutimi, Claude Tremblay
was a quiet and introspective child. She soon learned that her
relationship with the world around her would be primarily visual.
Like many Quebec families at that time, her parents moved
frequently, providing her with wealth of visual stimuli. Her
father in particular was a born nomad, as if, for him, true
happiness could only be found elsewhere.
By the time she was three, she was drawing everything she saw
as a way of making it her own. Instinctively, she seemed to know
that reproducing the shape of whatever we see brings us closer to
its essence. For her, drawing was her entry into the heart of the
magic. She knew very well that the word "dog" didn't
bite and the word "rose" revealed no hidden scent, but
she understood that the shape of an apple could be mouth-watering.
She has always found it easier to relate to animals than
humans. There is no need to explain yourself to animals; they
"know" and "sense" whatever their human
companions are feeling. An animal's love is unconditional, wasting
no time on explanations. Horses, who obey only those who truly
love them, became her first great passion.
Her natural instincts lead her towards places of quiet
contemplation - forests, waterfalls, meadows. Trees, majestic
sovereigns of silence and tranquility, have always held a special
attraction for her. She communicates with them as with
human-mates. They too are deeply rooted in mother earth.
Naturally, Claude developed an matured artistically, perfecting
her technique and pictorial style. Her passionate exploration of
the magic of colour delights all who encounter her art, but above
all, she will be known for her ability to commune with nature and
reveal the essence of the visible and invisible world.
